Many Mini Projects with Michael's Hutches!

I've been working on a top-secret mini project (it is nearly Christmas after all!) but I've missed posting for you all! In the US, we have a craft store named Michaels that sells these little wooden hutches that are just a little smaller than 1:12 scale but can be bashed into SO many things! I used to just paint or stain them but then I found out that if you just warm them a little (seconds) in the microwave, that you can just pull them to pieces and create something new. That same principle works really well with almost any mini furniture that is glued together! Here are some pics of things I've made using those wonderful, $1 hutches. Happy bashing!

  3. Your hutches are just amazing. I love the paint jobs you did on them. I find painting so difficult to do. It either makes or breaks a piece. I love all the different ways that you have bashed them. I find your site so inspiring.

  5. It's amazing what you've done with these, and thanks so much for the tip about the microwave. I've been lucky to have friends ship me some of these but it takes me forever to get them apart - I'm definately going to try the microwave technique.

  6. Your various cabinets and such are beautiful. I must check at my Michael's for the hutches. I have not found any there yet. I must ask someone there if they carry them. I love your projects.

  15. Love what you have done with the hutches...so many idees. Some years ago we could buy something like that in a cheap store but it was on sale for only a couple of days. Now we can't buy it any more. I love experimenting with cheap furniture...when it doesn't work out not much is lost.
